Hello! This is Fujikawa from Treatment Room Harika! ☀️
Did you know that Press Tack Needles, commonly used on the body, can also be used on the face?
Self-administered cosmetic Press Tack Needles for self-care and maintenance! 👏
These very convenient cosmetic Press Tack Needles. How do you use them?
【What are Press Tack Needles?】
They consist of a thin needle about 1mm long attached to a sticker. You can stick them on painful areas or acupoints for extended periods.
You can purchase them at drugstores or online.
They are especially recommended for those new to acupuncture, those who are afraid of the pain, or those who have difficulty finding time to visit an acupuncture clinic. 😊
【Is it safe to insert them into your face by yourself?】
The Press Tack Needles we are introducing this time are about 1mm in length. Therefore, the stimulation is very minimal, and you will hardly feel any pain. So, please think of it more as "applying" than "inserting." 😊
Since there is no risk of bleeding, you can apply them to almost any area of the skin except for open wounds.
【How to Use Press Tack Needles】
① Remove a Press Tack Needle from the container. Leaving half of the white paper tape attached will make it easier to apply! If it's difficult to remove, please use tweezers.
② Apply it to the desired area, and while peeling off the remaining half of the white paper tape, affix the rest.
③ Press lightly from above to enhance adhesion.
【Where to Apply Press Tack Needles on Your Face for Specific Concerns?】
Let's actually apply them! First, disinfect the area where you want to apply them, then locate the acupoints. Here are a few acupoints for specific facial concerns. 😊
✔︎ Nasolabial folds and sagging cheeks
■ Jūryō (Large Crevice)(Cheek Bone Hole)
This acupoint is located where a line drawn straight down from the pupil and a line drawn horizontally from below the nostrils intersect when looking straight ahead. It's right on the edge of the cheekbone! This is a concern for me as well, and it tends to be a shadowed area on the face. 😭 It's a very important acupoint for preventing sagging!
■ Chiso (Earth Granary)
This acupoint is located where the outer corner of the mouth and the nasolabial fold intersect.
This is a convergence point for important muscles, including those used for chewing and those involved in smiling! If this area becomes stiff and tight, the corners of the mouth can droop. Therefore, it's one of the essential acupoints that we always treat with cosmetic acupuncture in our clinic. ⭐️
■ Gekan (Lower Pass)
This acupoint is a depression in front of the ear canal. The area that bulges when you open your mouth is where this acupoint is located.
It's a very important acupoint for those with teeth clenching or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders! Gently press it with your fingertips (the pads of your fingers are recommended 👌). You may feel a pleasant, sore sensation!
This is the main area for the muscles used in chewing. Those who strain due to desk work or physical labor often overuse these muscles unconsciously, so it's worth checking!
✔︎ Dark circles and dullness under the eyes
■ Sanchiku (Gathered Bamboo)
This acupoint is a depression at the inner edge of the eyebrow. Pressing it strongly can cause pain, so touch it gently. Placing your finger in the depression and pressing upwards towards the forehead is even more effective. 💮 Apply the Press Tack Needle after a warm, relaxing sensation.
Stimulating this point also helps to open up the eyes! It's also recommended for relieving eye strain. 👀
■ Shōkyū (Tears Container)
This acupoint is a depression directly below the pupil. Pressing it strongly can also be painful! Please use the pads of your fingers gently. 🙇♀️
It's also recommended for those who have difficulty opening their eyes due to hay fever or those with eye strain!
■ Taiyō (Sun)
This acupoint is a depression located at the midpoint between the outer end of the eyebrow and the outer corner of the eye. It's highly recommended for those who suffer from migraines or have a feeling of tightness in the temples due to eye strain. 😊
Try pressing it gently with the pad of your thumb.
※ Please be careful not to press too hard if you have pulsating headaches. ⚠️
Pain may worsen with increased blood flow. For pulsating headaches, it's better to cool it down rather than warm it up. 🧊
✔︎ Forehead wrinkles
■ Yōhaku (Yang White)
This acupoint is located one finger's width above the center of the eyebrow. Pressing it can be surprisingly painful! ⚡️
It's a spot where fatigue tends to accumulate, especially for those who do desk work!
■ Gyoyō (Fish Waist)
This acupoint is located in the center of the eyebrow, slightly depressed. As the name suggests, it resembles the waist of a fish. 🐟
When drawing your eyebrows with makeup, do you ever find that the bulge is larger than your intended eyebrow line?
This is due to the corrugator supercilii muscle, which surrounds the eyebrows! This muscle is used in many everyday activities, such as furrowing your brows and staring at a computer screen. Gyoyō is a very effective acupoint for inhibiting this muscle. 🐠
■ Bishō (Eyebrow Thrust)
This acupoint is located one finger's width outward from the inner end of the eyebrow, above the hairline. Did you know that the hairline tends to become stiff? The muscles associated with this acupoint are part of the head's muscles. These muscles are thin and form a membrane-like structure from the forehead to the back of the head. 🙆♀️ Therefore, if they are not moved for extended periods, they become stiff as if stuck together, hindering movement. 😭
These are the recommended acupoints for each concern. 😊 They are relatively easy to apply and you can try them while checking in a mirror, so please give them a try!
Now, let me explain some precautions and additional information. 🙆♂️
【How long should you keep them on?】
2 to 4 days is fine. We do not recommend leaving them on any longer from a hygiene perspective.
However, since they are stickers, they are vulnerable to water. If they get wet, gently pat them dry with a towel.
Also, please remove them immediately if you experience any skin abnormalities or itching.
If you are going out for work, remove them before you leave, such as applying them before bedtime and removing them upon waking.
【Precautions after use】
If left for too long, they may fall off naturally and be stepped on, so please be careful. ⚠️
When disposing of them, fold the edges of the sticker inwards and discard them as combustible waste, being careful not to touch the center where the needle is attached.
【What is the ideal pace for cosmetic Press Tack Needles?】
For maintenance, we recommend once a week. The duration of the effect from a single application is said to be 3 to 7 days initially.
Stiffness accumulated over many years takes time to improve. This is because of the body's tendency to return to its original state, known as shape memory.
Therefore, by maintaining before returning to the original state, you can expect fixation and continued effects. For the first 5 to 10 applications, try once a week, and once a good condition is established, try spacing them out to about 2 weeks and see how it goes. ⭐️
【Which is more effective, regular cosmetic acupuncture or this?】
Cosmetic Press Tack Needles can certainly be expected to have effects as self-care, but we recommend trying them in combination with regular cosmetic acupuncture at our clinic first. 😊 Our nationally certified staff will identify the cause of your concerns and approach them from the root.
For example, the muscles in the cheeks that cause teeth clenching and the muscles in the neck that cause sagging are located deep within. Cosmetic acupuncture performed at our clinic uses longer needles, allowing us to insert them to the desired depth and relax these muscles. 👆
In addition to the above, we will recommend acupoints for self-care that are tailored to your specific concerns. 👏
【Tone up even more with body maintenance!】
We also offer courses with décolleté and back massages. After the massage, everyone experiences improved blood circulation and a brighter complexion! ✨ We receive feedback such as "My eyes feel more open!" and "My complexion has improved!" 🙇♀️
Body maintenance combined with cosmetic acupuncture is highly recommended!
Cosmetic acupuncture can be added as an option to our body courses. 😊
